Today's Job Is the Tryout

This job/class/calling is beneath me.

How I handle the small assignment IS the application for the big one.

Promotions — earthly and otherwise — go to people who were faithful with less. Nobody hands the big stewardship to someone coasting through the small one.

Use it when: Boring work, entry-level anything, a calling that feels minor.

Backed by: Matthew 25:21 — "thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things." That's the promotion mechanic, straight from the parable. Luke 16:10 — "he that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much," the same promotion mechanic in Luke's words. 1 Samuel 16:11–13 — David was anointed future king straight from the sheep pasture; the shepherding was never wasted time.
