Build Routines, Not Resolutions
I need to set a huge goal.
I need a default setting. Goals are wishes; routines are machinery.
The whole gospel runs on routine: weekly sacrament, daily prayer, regular temple trips. Nobody white-knuckles their way to holiness — they schedule it. Do the same with anything that matters.
Use it when: January 1st energy, spiritual ruts, fitness and finance goals.
Backed by: 2 Nephi 28:30 — "line upon line." God Himself delivers growth on a recurring schedule, not in one dramatic drop. Exodus 16:4 — manna arrived one day's portion at a time, "that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no." The routine was the test. D&C 88:124 — "retire to thy bed early... arise early" is a literal, scheduled daily routine, commanded.
What He’d say
I don't grow my children in lightning strikes; I do it line upon line, on a schedule. Build the routine and show up. I'll meet you there every time.
(His words from the passage above, spoken to you.)
