Insults Are Autobiographies

What they said about me really hurt.

They didn't describe me. They described themselves.

People in pain leak pain. A cruel comment is a status report on the speaker's insides, not a fact sheet about you. Read it that way and it loses most of its teeth.

Use it when: Mean comments, getting mocked, a cutting remark from someone you trusted.

Backed by: Matthew 5:44 — "pray for them which despitefully use you." That's easier the moment you hear the insult as a confession of hurt instead of a verdict on you. Isaiah 54:17 — "no weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn." Words aimed at you don't carry the verdict they claim to.
